A Brief Analysis of the Advantages and Disadvantages of Modern Information Technology in Foreign language Teaching

Abstract:The modern information technology is essential to foreign language teaching.This paper explores the advantages and disadvantages of modern information technology in foreign language teaching.

Key words:modern information technology;foreign language teaching; advantages;disadvantages

The development of information technology has provided many favorable conditions for English teaching.The importance of modern information technology in foreign language teaching is increasing.

一、The combination and evolution of modern information technology in foreign language teaching

Modern information technology realized the sharing of information and media resources.To promote English teaching,the application of modern information technology in foreign language teaching.The modern information technology accelerates the transformation of foreign language teaching.We explores the advantages and disadvantages of modern information technology in foreign language teaching in a dialectical view.

二、The advantages of modern information technology in foreign language teaching

1.Creating a simulation language learning environment.First of all,the application of modern information technology can replace the past recording,video,slide light and other difficulties in manipulating the simple function of the teaching aid completely.Secondly,the virtual reality of modern information technology can be served as an ideal learning environment for foreign language teaching.

2.Teaching students in accordance with their aptitude.Teacher can achieve effective real-time monitoring of all students foreign language teaching by the application of modern information technology.Furthermore,teacher get away from the heavy,mechanical teaching by using computer courseware.

3.Promoting the comprehensive quality of teacher.The combination of modern information technology and English teaching provides a new way for the reform of contemporary English teaching process.The modern information technology not only can make the teaching of diversification to alleviate the burden of teachers,but also conducive to improve students enthusiasm for learning English.

三、The disadvantages of modern information technology in foreign language teaching

1.Hindering the improvement of students comprehensive.In foreign language teaching,we cannot ignore the humanity of education.In conclusion,modern information technology has no advantages in foreign language teaching,whether the education that is emphasized in the curriculum reform or the cultivation of students thinking quality that is underlined in the core qualities.

2.Desalination of the relationship between teachers and students.A qualified foreign language teacher must have solid knowledge and a rigorous attitude of English.Therefore,teacher not only gives students knowledge,but also moral character from teacher.In my perspective,the classroom teaching is important to teaching.Therefore,we must measure its inferiority while affirming the superiority of modern information technology fully in foreign language teaching.

3.Hindering students ability to communicate with language.The ultimate aim of language learning is communication.While the lack of auditory means of interaction,human-computer interaction is to get rid of a desktop computer as the center of the computing model.If a student was in such a simple language learning environment for a long time,he can not experience any real communication environment in real life.

In summary,according to the specific requirements of teaching,teacher should utilize modern information technology purposefully and systematically in that modern information technology can better be served for foreign language teaching.
