What is “Hanfu”?

Hanfu is the traditional clothing of the Han people who lived in China before the Qing Dynasty. It has been around for about 3,000 years. It changed greatly during different dynasties. However, some of its major characteristics (特点) have stayed.
汉服是中国清代以前汉族人的传统服装。它已经存在大约3000年了。它在不同的朝代更迭间发生了巨大的变化。然而,它的一些主要特征仍然存在。
One of these characteristics is the collar (领子). There are two parts that overlap (交叠) on the front. They are called“jiao ling” (crossing collar, 交领). The order of the two parts is important. The crossing is always on his or her right side. Its called“you ren”(right front, 右衽).
這些特征之一是衣领。衣服前面有两个部分重叠,它们被称为“交领”。这两个部分穿着的顺序很重要。交叉的地方总是在他或她的右边,叫做“右衽”。
Another major characteristic of hanfu is that it usually doesnt have buttons (扣子). It uses ribbons (系带) instead.
