Breathtaking Blossoms

Every year in late March, Yuantouzhu, or Turtle Head Isle in Wuxi City, east Chinas Jiangsu Province, witnesses the blossoming of nearly 30,000 cherry trees of over 100 varieties.
The Wuxi International Cherry Blossom Week was held from March 28 to April 2. This years festival marked the 31st anniversary of the Sino-Japanese Cherry Blossom Friendship Forest.
In 1987, a Japanese delegation visited Wuxi and planted 1,500 cherry trees together with local residents, forming the SinoJapanese Cherry Blossom Friendship Forest. Over the past 31 years, more than 10,000 Japanese visitors have come to Wuxi to help maintain the forest and conduct people-topeople exchanges with the locals.
Thousands of tourists swarm to the scenic spot every year. The sight of cherry blossoms at night has become the biggest drawcard of the tourist site. After sunset, the fl owers are illuminated by lights, creating an extraordinary scene.
