Eating more fish is better for childrens sleep
A newstudy in the U.S. published in the British Journal of Science Reportshows that children who eat fish at least once a week not only sleep better, but also have a higher IQ. Therefore, relevant researchers suggest that children should eat fish as early as 10 months old.
The OMEGA-3 fatty acids, which are rich in fish, can not only improve our cognitive ability but also our sleep, but what is the correlation between eating fish and improving cognition and sleep? To this end, researchers at the University of Pennsylvania surveyed the frequency of fish eating of 541 children ranging from 9 to 11 years old over the past one month and used a WISC-CR to test their verbal and nonverbal abilities. In addition, the parents of the children completed a questionnaire on the quality of sleep, which included sleep duration, night-waking frequencies and daytime sleepiness.
After analysis, the researchers found that children who ate fish every week had anIQ score 4.8 higherthan those who ate "few" or "no" fish. In addition, the increase in fish intake is also associated with a decrease in sleep impairment, which researchers believe suggests improved sleep quality.
