Special Edition Strengthens China-Vietnam Communication

China Report ASEAN APEC Vietnam 2017 just a small part of efforts to enhance mutual trust and strengthen friendship between China and Vietnam

On the morning of Nov. 5,the launch ceremony of China Report ASEAN APEC Vietnam 2017, a special edition of China Report ASEAN, took place in the Chinese Consulate General in central Vietnam’s Da Nang.

Guo Weimin, vice minister of the State Council Information Office of China,Xi Hui, the Chinese consulgeneral in Da Nang, Nguyen Thi Phuong, deputy directorgeneral of the Information Media Office of Da Nang, and Chen Shi, deputy editor-inchief of China International Publishing Group (CIPG)and president of China Report Press, attended the ceremony. Also in attendance were representatives from Vietnamese and Chinese government departments,businesses and media, as well as members of other industries.

In his speech, Guo said Chinese President Xi Jinping would attend the 25th APEC Informal Leaders’ Meeting and pay a state visit to Vietnam later in November — his first visit to a foreign country following the end of the 19th Communist Party of China(CPC) National Congress. Guo said the visit will carry great significance in enhancing the good-neighborly relations that exist between China and Vietnam, building a community of a shared future with the two countries’neighbors and deepening the Asia-Pacific partnership. In this context, the publishing of China Report ASEAN APEC Vietnam 2017 is significant in that it will open a new window for the Vietnamese people to observe and experience China up close.

Chen Shi said at the ceremony that there is still broad space for cultural exchanges between China and ASEAN countries, and that China Report ASEAN is committed to serving as not only a driver and communicator of friendship between the two sides but also a participant and player in bilateral cooperation. On the basis of the magazine,China Report Press has built a multilingual, multi-media and multi-format communication platform for promoting interactions and exchanges between China and ASEAN countries in areas such as major events, international seminars and exhibitions,personnel exchange and training, journalism events and international cooperation in publishing.

In her speech, Xi Hui said that following decades of joint efforts from both sides,China and Vietnam have continuously consolidated traditional friendship,enhanced political mutual trust and expanded practical cooperation. Cultural and people-to-people exchanges have grown increasingly active. Xi Hui said China looks forward to more bilateral exchanges and cooperation in culture, education, tourism and other areas to create a better environment for the development of bilateral relations, adding that books and magazines are an important carrier of cultural exchanges between the two countries.

“I hope that the publishing of China Report ASEAN APEC Vietnam 2017 will provide the Vietnamese readers an opportunity to understand China’s philosophy of governance for the new era and the current situation of China’s development,” Xi Hui said.

At the launch ceremony,the two sides jointly unveiled China Report ASEAN APEC Vietnam 2017.

As a national-level international communication platform for the ASEAN region, China Report ASEAN is sponsored by the CPC Central Committee Publicity Department, supervised by CIPG and published by China Report Press. Since its first publication in January 2016, China Report ASEAN has closely followed the development of the friendly relations between China and ASEAN member states in terms of economics and trade,connectivity and cultural and people-to-people exchanges,with the aim of building a platform for all-round friendly exchange and cooperation between China and ASEAN.

Published ahead of the APEC Informal Leaders’ Meeting in Da Nang, China Report ASEAN APEC Vietnam 2017 focuses on the APEC meetings while covering the 19th CPC National Congress and the sixth meeting of the 12th Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam.The special edition recounts the major achievements of the two countries in economic and trade cooperation, as well as the synergy of China’s Belt and Road Initiative and Vietnam’s Two Corridors, One Economic Circle plan.
