Researchers with the Alpine Ecosystem Observation and Experiment Station of Gongga Mountain collect plant samples on the western slope of the mountain in Luding County， southwest Chinas Sichuan Province， on November 23.
The station， which has two bases with an altitude of 1，600 meters and 3，000 meters respectively， was established in 1987 to study the upstream ecosystem of the Yangtze River.endprint
