Q：What attracts you to come to SuOn as the Principal?

A: I have twenty eight years in the public education system, and I am really enjoying traveling and I am looking for many other opportunities. The reason for the job that I have applied for is it is not in the overseas but I can work with international students. So I am just looking for a change, and some new challenges in my teachingcareer, so that's what SuOn has attracted me. I am just looking for something different. because in the universities, there aren't so many staff just like in SuOn to help them, to take care of them. So teaching them to be more independent is, very important.

Q: Could you please share with us the vision and key directions of SuOn International Academy under your leadership? Just like the function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Or intelligence plus character. Or any others?

A: Certainly, most students come to SuOn, the most important reason is the academic that they can learn well in SuOn. They can apply to universities in order to move forward in their future. But at the same time I have been proud of the education that we are also developing students’ character. And so, you know we are trying to make sure that our students always develop good characters, and other something good that it is very important for them.

I have discovered more and more that in the SuOn, most masters always teach students to be more independent. Be independent in their own thinking and independent so that they can live by themselves. They come to SuOn and then they are moving to different countries far and far away without their parents to look after them. And so when they come to us, they need to be more responsible for themselves SuOn’s teachers and masters work with students to make them more independent. It is important because after they finish the study in SuOn, most of them are going to university. And when they go to university, they have to be more independent,

Q: What sets SuOn apart from other international schools in the Canada?

A: One different thing that sets us apart is I think that we have a lot of standards for what we do, that is to say we are very honest with the students.

Some other the reason I think that we have special certificates. You know, there are other international schools in Canada that the person runs the school, is not necessary to have a teaching background or educational background. I come from an educational background and I know the education system in Ontario very well because of all my experience, and so I know how schools should be. Another thing I think that really sets us apart is the support that we offer for our students. All of our teachers can take care of the academics and they are superior certified teacher. And in the SuOn, the first teaching language is English. Besides, we also have a lot of supporting people, such as seven counselors in our school. They are originally from China so they're all bilingual. At the beginning of the year, each student is assigned with a counselor, Every counselor meets with the students several times in a week. We always have the counselor to meet with their students in the fifth period after the classes are done and there are also the counselors supervising their studying. And those counselors are helping the students if they are struggling with something in academics, to help them figure out how to solve the issues that to help them deal with any perhaps social problems or questions if they need, to help the students to apply for universities. You know, we have strong academics, good experience teachers, and other support.
