2000多年前的临淄，是春秋五霸之首、战国七雄之一的齐国都城，富冠海内、钜于长安，诸子商贾纷沓而至，海岱之间联袂而朝。中国最伟大灿烂的文化之一——齐文化在这里孕育繁衍。

2000年后的临淄，变革、开放、务实、包容，致敬弘扬深厚隽永的文化底蕴，努力建设文化名城，积极创建齐文化传承创新示范区。着力打造以齐文化产业园、姜太公文化资源、足球文化资源、齐文化节资源为发展思路的文化产业带，齐都文化城等一批旗舰项目已崛地而起，总投资154亿元的“十大文旅融合项目”为这个千年古都注入了新的血液与活力。

临淄，活力四射，潜力无限，曾被评为山东省第一经济强区和山东省最佳投资城市，也是全国重要的石油化工基地、江北最大的塑料产品生产基地、世界最大的装饰原纸生产基地。培育形成了炼化一体化、塑料加工、装备制造、健康医药、高档纸、稀土新材料6大产业集群，主营业务收入近2500亿元。拥有4家上市公司，吸收合并上市5家，31家企业在齐鲁股权交易中心挂牌托管。

临淄素有“鲁中粮仓”之称。粮食种植面积40万亩，沃土千里，果蔬飘香，先后荣获国家现代农业示范区、全国生态农业试点区、国家级出口农产品质量安全示范区等称号。

临淄是创新之城。这里有“临淄·梦之谷”、齐鲁国际塑化城等省级创业孵化示范基地，拥有各类专业人才4.6万人，享受国务院政府特殊津贴专家4人。拥有院士和博士后科研工作站12家，省级科技创新平台40处，4家企业入选泰山产业领军人才工程。创新，成为临淄跨越发展的新引擎。

临淄是清新秀美的生态之城，满城尽带绿意，处处尽显美景。全区林木覆盖率达30%，被评为“国家园林城市”，千年文化古韵与生态绿意的和谐之美恣意绽放。

Over 2,000 years ago, Linzi was the capital of the State of Qi which was the fi rst of the Five Hegemons and one of the Seven Warring States. It was wealthy and more graceful than Chang’an. Scholars and merchants came in a continuous stream, and the vassals in the regions between the Bohai Sea and Mount Tai came here topay their respects. Moreover, one of China’s greatest and most brilliant cultures - Qi culture was generated and developed here.

2,000 years later, Linzi is characterized by changes, openness, pragmatism and inclusiveness. It pays homage to and carries forward profound yet meaningful cultural deposits, strives to construct a famous cultural city, and actively builds an Innovative Demonstration Zone for the Inheritance of Qi Culture. Besides, Linzi focuses on creating a cultural industry belt with the development ideas of Qi Culture Industry Park, Jiang Ziya culture resources, football culture resources and Qi culture festival resources. A batch of flagship projects like the Cultural City of the Capital of Qi have been launched, and the “10 Culture-Tourism Fusion Project” with a total investment of RMB 15.4 billion adds new blood and energy to the millennia-old capital.

Linzi, full of energy and potential, has been awarded the titles of the No.1 Strong Economic District in Shandong and the Best Investment City in Shandong. In addition, it is an important petrochemical industry base nationwide, the largest production base of plastic products north of the Yangtze River, as well as the largest production base of decorative base paper in the world. It has cultivated and formed 6 industrial clusters concerning ref i ningchemical integration, plastic processing, equipment manufacturing, health & medicine, high-grade paper and new rare earth materials, with the main business revenue of nearly RMB 250 billion. Linzi owns 4 listed companies and has attracted 5 post-merger listed companies. Besides, 31 companies are under the trusteeship of the Qilu Equity Exchange Center.

Linzi is known as the Granary of Central Shandong, and has a grain planting area of about 26,667 hectares, with a large area of fertile land and fragrant fruits & vegetables. It has won such titles as the National Demonstration Zone for Modern Agriculture, the National Pilot Area for Ecological Agriculture, and the National Demonstration Zone for Quality Safety of Agricultural Exports.

Linzi is a city of innovation. There are a number of provincial demonstration bases for business incubation such as“Linzi -Valley of Dreams” and Qilu International Plasticization Town, as well as 460,000 professional talents, including 4 individuals enjoying the special government allowances issued by the State Council. Besides, there are 12 academician & post-doctoral scientific research stations, 40 provincial scitech innovation platforms, as well as 4 enterprises which have been selected for the Mount Tai Industry Leader Program. Innovation becomes a new engine for leaping development of Linzi.

Linzi is a beautiful ecological city, which is full of green and fine views. The entire district has reached a woodcover rate of 30% and has been rated as a “National Garden City”. In the district, the millennia-old cultural charm and the beauty of harmony in ecological green are blooming.

Linzi is a harmonious city. Over the 30 years of reform and opening-up, the social undertakings of Linzi concerning education, sports, culture, health, urbanrural construction, and so forth have been gradually perfected, and the happiness index of citizens has been continuously improved.
