The 2017 World Airline Awards were held on 20th June, at Paris Air Show. The world-famous aviation rating institution Skytrax announced the top 100 Airlines this year, and China Southern Airlines was ranked the 23rd worldwide. Compared to its rank in 2016, China Southern rises by 9 slots, making the biggest progress among Chinese carriers, and it even gained the 7th among world airlines on its Business Class comfort items service.

在6月20日法国巴黎航空展上,全球权威航空评估机构Skytrax揭晓了2017全球100佳航空公司排行榜,中国南方航空排名,相较2016年排名提高了9名,进步幅度列中国航空公司之冠。其中,公务舱舒适品服务更位列全球第7名。

Ranking up by 13 slots in 2 years

According to Skytrax, the institute conducted a mass survey on service quality of 320 airlines around the world from August 2016 to May 2017. They sent out over questionnaires online to over 24 million passengers on the quality of service of 320 global carriers. The result ranking is analyzed from 19 million valid questionnaires of passengers from 105 countries.

The result shows that China Southern Airlines achieved good results in some sub-rankings. For instance, China Southern's First Class service ranked 17th globally, while its Premium Economy Class service was positioned at 19th, and its airport service ranked 20th. The airline was among the Top 10 in Business Class comfort items index, ranking the 7th. Since 2015, China Southern have made great progress on Skytrax's top 100 list. In two years, the airline has improved its ranking by 13 slots.

In recent years, the service focus of China Southern Airlines is on the refi nement of rules, mechanism construction, service control and R&R: in the wholeprocess service, the carrier was the fi rst to launch a green aviation transport fast lane for donated

organs, as well as an on-board medical volunteer project. With respect to its airport service, China Southern expanded its unique check-in service to 153 airports, launched the "read and share in China Southern" free book-reading services, provided electronic-voucher compensation products for service defect and WeChat scan function for boarding pass. As for its in-fl ight service, the carrier focuses on the image of fl ight attendances, their service skills, and improving their internationalized service standard. For the on-board food and drink sector, China Southern upgraded its online ordering system, developed 45 special meals, and offered 20 new brands of wine. As for the marketing aspect, with the help of China Southern Airlines e-Travel, the carrier launched various self-service products including full channel refund products, pre-ordering excess baggage fee service, paid seats selection, pre-ordering on-board Wi-Fi service, on-board entertainment inquiries and special passenger care.

With the various actions to improve its service, China Southern Airlines enhanced its international awareness in the global market. In 2016, China Southern was ranked the 13th worldwide (and the ever fi rst of its kind in mainland China) in Skytrax's“most popular airlines in the world”, as well as the 6th (also the fi rst of its kind nationwide) of “World's most valuable aviation brand” by world-famous consulting agency Brand Finance.
