三、阅读理解
In Canada and the United States, people enjoy entertaining (请客) at home. They often invite friends over for a meal, a party or just for a coffee and conversation. Here are the kinds of things people say when they invite someone to their home:
“Would you like to come over for dinner Saturday night?”
“Hey, we’re having a party on Friday. Can you come?”
To reply to an invitation either say thank you and accept or say you’re sorry and give an excuse:
“Thanks, I’d love to. What time would you like me to come?” or “Oh sorry, I’ve got tickets for a movie.”
Sometimes, however, people use expressions that sound like invitations but which are unreal (假的) invitations. For example:
“Please come over for a drink sometime.”
“Why not get together for a party sometime?”
“Why don’t you come over and see us sometime soon?”
They are really just polite ways of ending a conversation. They are not real invitations because they don’t mention a specific (确定的) time or date. They just show that the person is trying to be friendly. To reply to expressions like these, people just say, “Sure, that would be great!” or “OK, thanks.”
So next time when you hear what sounds like an invitation, listen carefully: Is it a real invitation or is the person just being friendly?
根据短文内容,判断正(T)误(F)。

三、阅读理解
Going to a friend’s house is very exciting. You may spend time with a friend and get to see where he lives. So remember to be polite (有礼貌的).
When to arrive
The first thing to remember is that when a friend invites you over, you need to arrive on time. If your friend tells you to come “around 3:00”, that means you can turn up a little bit after 3:00. But usually it is a good idea to arrive at the right time.
What to bring
Often it is also nice to bring something to your friend’s house. This could be a box of chocolates for you to share, or maybe a movie that you can watch together. You can also bring some flowers. A little gift is a nice way to show your friend that you are excited to be at his or her house.
How to greet (打招呼)
When you visit your friend’s house, you may also meet his/her parents. You should tell them who you are and they may tell you their names. As a child, I went to visit my friend Paul. I called his parents by their first names John and Mary. But now I know it is more polite to call them Mr and Mrs Smith. This will show them more respect (尊重) and then they may tell you to call them by their first names. Another way to show respect is to call them madam or sir.
It is a cool thing to visit a friend’s house. Be polite to your friend and your friend’s parents, and you will be invited again.

( ) 3. When you see the parents of your friends in their houses, you should ___ .
A. keep quiet
B. make them happy
C. tell them your name first
D. tell them why you are there
( ) 4. A good way to show your respect to your friend’s parents is to call them ___ .
A. madam or sirB. father and mother
C. by their first namesD. by their second names

A. when to get to your friend’s house
