1 Carrot Held Man’s Missing Wedding Ring
An 82-year-old man from Germany found his lost wedding ring wrapped[包裹]around a growing carrot after losing it in his garden three years ago, according to German news outlet[电视台]WDR, Nov. 10th, 2016.
The man said his wife told him the ring would reappear[重新出现]after it fell into the dirt[泥土]while he was gardening shortly after[在……不久后]they celebrated their 50thwedding anniversary[周年纪念].
Six months after his wife’s death, the ring surfaced[显现].
After fnding the ring around the middle of the carrot, the man said that sometimes “you reap[收获]what you sow[播种].”
2 Australian Faced Fine for Using Drone to Deliver Sausage
Authorities[当局]in Australia were investigating[调查]a video of a man using a drone[无人机]to deliver[运送]a sausage[香肠].
The video featured[特写]the drone fying to a local hardware store[五金店]to pick up a sausage, which it was later delivered to a man in a hot tub[浴盆].
The drone pilot, Tim, said the video was “just a bit of fun.”
Authorities said, “We want to see people have fun with their drones. But if you don’t respect the rules, then you just put people at risk[处于危险中]and there are fnes[罚款]for doing that.”
3 Animal Fight Night: Home-wrecking Penguin
Violence. Heartbreak.
It’s easy to see why “Home-wrecking[家庭破灭]Penguin[企鹅],” a short video clip[片段]posted on Nov. 3rd, has internet users around the world talking about it. The clip features a penguin returning to his nest[巢]to fnd that another male penguin is already living with his mate[配偶]. A vicious[凶猛的]battle follows.
The video’s narration[旁白]is almost as brutal[残忍的]as the fght itself. You really have to watch for yourself, but it does include the cruel[残忍的]line[台词], “She has no time for losers.”
Anyway, Twitter[推特]users couldn’t get enough of the penguin drama[戏剧性事件].
4 Woman Won $43 Million Prize—But All She Got Was Meat
An unemployed[失业的]mother of four said she was suing[控告]Resorts World Casino[名胜世界赌场]in Queens[皇后区], New York City, after a slot machine[老虎机]showed she won $43 million―but all she got was a steak dinner.
“I feel like they did me real dirty[卑劣手段],” Katrina Bookman said.
In August, Bookman thought she had won a life-changing[改变一生的]jackpot[头奖]when a message on the monitor[显示屏]said, “Printing Cash Ticket $43, 949, 672.76.” She took a selfie with her glowing[容光焕发的]face next to the words.
“I couldn’t believe it,” Bookman said. “My body went numb[失去知觉的].”
That’s when the stunning[令人震惊的]reversal[反转]of fortune began, as casino personnel[工作人员]and security[安保]asked her to leave and return the next day for the decision regarding[与……有关]her jackpot.
When Bookman returned, they told her that she had won nothing because the machine malfunctioned[出故障]. So instead, she was offered a steak dinner. She declined[拒绝].
“The machine takes your money when you lose. It ought to pay money when you win,” her attorney[代理律师], Alan Ripka, told
the station.
5 Squirrel Went on Angry Rampage
A squirrel[松鼠]went wild[发狂]in a Florida senior center[老年中心]on Nov. 3rdinjuring three people, which led to an unusual 911 call.
“We had a squirrel that entered our building, and it’s in our activity room,” the caller said in an audio posted online. “It’s jumping on people and biting them and scratching[抓]them. We need help.”
It’s not clear how the squirrel got into the place.
The creature began its attack[攻击]on people outside. It latched[缠着]onto one person, then was thrown into the facility[设备], where it continued its rampage[横冲直撞], the news reported.
Several voices could be heard in the background as the caller tried to ask for help.
“It’s still in there and people are bleeding,” she said. Another person in the background then said the squirrel had been tossed out[扔出去].
But no one knows what happened to the squirrel.
