A memorable photo was taken on Feb.16 in front of CNTACs office building with the sign billboard“China National Textile and Apparel Council” capped in red, flanked by the new executive team and the expresidents, marking an end to a half-century long working site for textile headquarters in the history of the administrative body in the textile industry, refreshing a new start of life and continued commitment to the quality service provided by CNTAC to this industry while it moves to new office premises.
China National Textile and Apparel Council is a non-governmental organization in spite of its original background of governmental agency known as “Ministry of Textile” founded in Nov.1949, the first industrial ministry shortly after New China was born in Oct.of the same year. The past approx.seven decades witnessed a dramatic change in textile industry, characterizing a complete value line-up from farm to fashion that puts natural fibers on stream, coupled with a fully integrated process in man-made fiber industry from fossil-based, regenerated cellulosic and bio-genetic technology to functional performances in apparel, home-furnishings and technical textiles. In the course of this gorgeous development, the Ministry of Textile experienced a due reshaping, namely, China National Textile Industry Council (CNTIC) which was still a cabinet member in the State Council, the State Administration of Textile Industry, and then finally CNTAC in 2001.
When the governmental lustre fades out, CNTAC is still glistening by playing irreplaceable role in providing consultant services for the government, industry and companies that are well linked in a professional manner, backed up by CNTACs efficient and effective services as the nations largest textile industry body.
Whatever changes that take place in physical office premises, one thing for sure remains unchanged, a rock-firm commitment to serving the industry better.
