The Geographical Fate of Human History
2016-11-22
Man cannot create history without having his geographical environment coming into play. The geographical environment of the earth is highly favorable for Europeans and Asians. Firstly, the Eurasian continent has several eastbound and westbound thoroughfares (with similar latitudes and climates) and a great number of plant and fauna varieties. This is conducive to the development of agriculture and the dissemination of tools and technologies. Secondly, the Eurasian continent has a number of tamable large animals and this is conducive to long-distance transport and trade.
Long-distance trade increases exchanges between different regions and peoples and promotes exchanges between different civilizations. It is this kind of exchange that is propelling the progress of civilization in Europe and Asia way ahead of Africa, North and South America and Australia.
