Good spoken language needs a lot of accumulation and use of language materials . The students in China study English every day, but they communicate with each other in Chinese normally. That is to say, they can not make a good application of English , so what they have learned is “dumb English”. Middle school students seldom speak English, and the words and sentences they learned in English class will be read only in Morning Reading. Some students hardly ever read English, and they are lack of practice, so there are many words and sentences they cannot read correctly. It affected the development of oral training and speaking skills of the students seriously. So it is very important for the students to read and recite, especially to the students in junior middle school. This is not only an effective way to improve their spoken language, but also the only way to improve the English scores. And then I summed up the benefits of reading and reciting:

Firstly, through reading and reciting, students are able to accumulate a large number of English words, phrases and sentences, expand their vocabulary, enrich their accumulated language materials, improve the ability of listening, speaking, reading and writing comprehensively.

Secondly, reading and reciting is almost not affected by the constraints of time and environment, students can be free to choose the content and time they want .

Thirdly, long-term reading and reciting can train the coherence and fluency of the language, improve students?spoken language ability, and help them to improve their pronunciation .

Fourthly, reading and reciting can cultivate English language sense. The so-called sense of language is the inspiration formed in the process of using language , it can avoid many unnecessary mistakes in our exercises.

After knowing the importance of reading and recitation, what we should do is to proceed with the practice. The first grade is the key time for the students to learn English. Because it is the entry course, the students just contact English, they are full of enthusiasm, interest, curiosity. So I want to tell junior students: “Please cherish the time, please read English loudly and recite some wonderful sentence in the process of learning English, so that it will be easier to learn English when you go to the second and third grade.”
