On Love

When love beckons①beckon 英 ［'bek（ə）n］ 美 ［'bɛkən］ vt. 召唤；吸引 vi. 吸引；（招手或点头）示意 n. 表召唤的点头；手势to you，follow him，

Though his ways are hard and steep.

And when his wings enfold②enfold 英 ［ɪn'fəʊld； en-］ 美 ［ɪn'fold］ vt. 拥抱；包裹；折叠；围绕you，yield to him，

Though the sword hidden among his pinions③pinion 英 ［'pɪnjən］ 美 ［'pɪnjən］ n. ［机］ 小齿轮；翅膀，鸟翼 vt. 绑住，束缚；剪掉鸟翼使不能飞may wound you.

And when he speaks to you，believe in him，

Though his voice may shatter④shatter 英 ［'ʃætə］ 美 ［'ʃætɚ］ vt. 粉碎；打碎；破坏；破掉；使散开vi. 粉碎；损坏；落叶 n. 碎片；乱七八糟的状态your dreams as the north wind lays waste the garden.

Love gives naught but itself and takes naught but from itself.

Love possesses not nor would it be possessed；

For love is sufficient unto⑤unto 英 ［'ʌntʊ］ 美 ［'ʌntə］ prep. 到，直到；向（等于to）love.

当爱召唤你时，跟随他，

虽然他的道路艰难险峻。

而当他的翅膀环抱你时，依从他吧，

尽管羽翼中藏着的利刃可能会伤害你。

当他同你讲话时信任他，

尽管他的言语会粉碎你的梦幻，就

像北风吹荒了花园。

爱所给的仅是他自己，他所带走的也仅是他自己。

爱不占有也不愿被占有；

因为对爱而言，爱已足够。
