汉语中的“一……就……”句式在英语中有多种表达方式，现将几种常用的表达方式归纳如下：

一、连词

1.as soon as

I'll ring you up as soon as I get a reply from Lucy.我一得到露西的答复就给你打电话。

As soon as he got well，he went back to school.他病一好就回去上学了。

2.no sooner...than...

She had no sooner gone to bed than the telephone rang.她刚一上床睡觉，电话铃就响了。

No sooner had I left my home than it began to rain.我刚一离开家，天就下雨了。

注意：no sooner位于句首时，前一个分句要用倒装语序。

3.hardly/scarcely...when...

I had hardly reached the airport when the plane took off.我刚一到达机场，飞机就起飞了。

Hardly/scarcely had I explained when he said he still didn't understand.我刚刚解释完，他就说他仍然不明白。

注意：当hardly/scarcely位于句首时，前一个分句要用倒装语序。

4.directly/instantly（=as soon as）

We get up directly the bell rings.铃一响，我们就起床。

He made for the door directly he heard the knock.一听到敲门声，他就跑去开门了。

I recognized her instantly I saw her.我一见到她就认出她了。

He telephoned his mother instantly he arrived in London.他一到达伦敦就给他妈妈打电话。

5.the instant/minute/moment（that）（=as soon as）

The girl began to cry the instant she read the letter.那女孩一读那封信就哭了起来。

I'll tell my daughter about it the minute she comes back home.当我女儿一回到家，我就把这件事告诉她。

The moment I began to speak，he cut in.我一开始说话，他就插嘴。

The soldiers rushed out of the room the moment they heard a cry for help.战士们一听到呼救声就冲出了房间。

1.at

The engineer saw at a glance what was wrong.工程师一眼就看出毛病在哪里。

2.on

On his return he was greeted by a large crowd.他一回来就受到一大群人的欢迎。
