Commissioning of 100 kt/a Project for Manufacture of Aromatics from Methanol at Shaanxi Baoji Nitrogen Chemicals Group
In January 2016 the frst phase of the 100 kt/a project for production of aromatics from methanol has been successfully delivering light aromatics, heavy aromatics and LPG at the Shaanxi Baoji Nitrogen Chemicals Group. This project applies the proprietary process for one-step conversion of methanol to aromatics in the adiabatic fixed-bed reactor jointly developed by the CAS Shanxi Institute of Coal Chemistry, the Sedin Engineering Company, and the Yunnan Coal Chemicals Group, Ltd. The associated catalyst is independently developed and manufactured by the Shanxi Institute of Coal Chemistry. The annual production of major products of this project includes 100 kt of light aromatics, 14.39 kt of LPG and 11.27 kt of heavy aromatics.
It is learned that this technology assumes a leading position among rivaling peers in the world, since it can for the frst time realize the one-step conversion of methanol in the fxed-bed reactor to yield qualifed aromatics with a lead-free, sulfur-free, low-benzene and high-octane quality. The production process is energy saving and environmentally benign, and wastewater is recycled for reuse to become a environmentally friendly project.
