PDP for EG Purification Technology as An Associated Unit to Polyamide-Ester Project Developed by SINOPEC Shanghai Petrochemical Research Institute Passed Technical Review
On November 12, 2015 the Sinopec Corp. organized a meeting at the Yizheng Chemical Fiber Company (YCFC) to review “The PDP for ‘super-imitation cotton (polyamideester)’ package technology” envisaged in Sinopec’s key ten projects. The PDP for 200 kt/a ethylene glycol puri fi cation technology as a sub-project to the polyamide-ester project developed by the SINOPEC Shanghai Petrochemical Research Institute (SPRI) has passed the technical review of the SINOPEC headquarters.
The innovative integrated puri fi cation technology covering pretreatment, recti fi cation and adsorption developed by SPRI can effectively improve the quality of ethylene glycol product. A batch of EG product obtained in the laboratory scale at SPRI had been tested in the polymerization experiments in a small reactor at YCFC, indicating that this product could meet the requirements for polyester production. The color grade and UV value of the puri fi ed EG product have been improved, with its purity better than that of the premium product speci fi ed in the national standard to provide strong technical support for the successful development of the package technology for manufacture of the ‘super-imitation cotton’. The experts attending the assessment meeting have recognized that the package technology for manufacture of the ‘super-imitation cotton’ has its innovative nature with independent intellectual property rights, and the design of process fl ow diagram, equipment selection, and control program are reasonable and viable, on which the engineering design can be based.
The said EG puri fi cation technology is slated for veri fi cation in commercial scale at the EG puri fi cation unit, which is an associated unit to the 60 kt/a super-imitation cotton project at YCFC.
