Technology for Comprehensive Utilization and Commercial Application of Coal, Oil and Gas at Yanchang Oil Group Passed Appraisal
On June 16, 2016 the technical achievement of the Shaanxi Yanchang Oil Group relating to “the integrated process technology for comprehensive utilization of coal, oil and gas and their commercial application” has passed the experts’ appraisal in Beijing. It is said that this achievement has shattered the traditional precedent and engineering paradigm of using coal or natural gas to simplistically manufacture methanol and has carved out a new mode for comprehensive utilization of coal, oil and gas resources, featuring apparent emissions reduction effects with innovative nature to command a leading position internationally.
This achievement has developed a new process for comprehensive utilization of coal, oil and gas to effectively utilize major resource elements involving coal, oil and gas to be applied in commercial scale. This project has put forward a new concept of “carbon-hydrogen mutual compensation in the feedstock” and creatively proposed an optimized process consisting of “coal gasification—shift at a lower ratio—purifcation—one-step conversion of natural gas—methanol synthesis—single-tower rectification of raw methanol—multiple-effect evaporation”to effectively improve the energy conversion efficiency, increase the resource utilization rate and reduce carbon emissions. This project has for the first time developed and adopted the raw methanol purification process involving “the single-tower rectification +multiple-effect evaporation” to reduce the steam consumption and the equipment investment cost. This project has for the frst time developed the multi-variable complex control system for “carbon-hydrogen mutual compensation”, the onebutton setting system for blank tests of gasifcation unit to fexibly control the integrated methanol unit for ensuring the safe and smooth operation of the unit. This project through the multiple technical integration, the control over the process fow sheet as a whole, and organic connection between the upstream and the downstream has been capable of treating wastewater with high salt contents to achieve the reuse of all wastewater streams without discharge to the outside.
It is learned that in July 2014 the Yanchang Oil Group has established and put on stream in Jingbian city of northern Shaanxi province the frst in the world project for comprehensive utilization of coal, oil and gas resources, while cranking out quality PE and PP products. In May 2016 the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Association had organized experts to implement the inspection and calibration tests on 72-hour uninterrupted operation of this project for comprehensive conversion of coal, oil and gas resources in Jingbian city. Test results have shown that in comparison with the advanced operating indicators achieved by the advanced coal-to-methanol technology, this project has increased the energy conversion rate by 16.88%, improved the carbon resource utilization rate by 17.745, reduced the overall energy consumption on unit weight of products by more than 15.50%, decreased the water consumption by over 70.33%, with CO2emissions reduced by 60.38% and SO2emissions decreased by 59%.
