I Wouldnt Tell Lies Any Longer

My mother gave me only twenty yuan this Monday morning. She said it was enough for my pocket money. I was not happy with it. “Can you please give me more？ I need sixty yuan， because I want to buy a pair of new running shoes.” I told her that we would have a school sports meeting the next week.

“School sports meeting？ I dont believe it. Last week， you said you needed sixty yuan for an English dictionary book. But you bought chocolates！You have so many bad teeth now， dont you？” My mother gave me a dirty look1.

I know I like eating sweets and I often have a toothache. But this time， I really need a pair of new shoes for the school sports meeting.

“No， I cant give you more money except your P.E. teacher calls me，” mother said. I sat on a chair nearby silently， without saying any words. Suddenly， mother cried， “Oh， my God！One of my glasses legs is broken！” On hearing this， I stood up and had a look at her glasses.

“Mom， I can repair it well，” I said to her.

“Really？ How can you？” she asked me unbelievably.

I looked for a screw driver2， and screwed and made the jointing3 fixed. “Now， you should give me sixty yuan，” I said proudly.

“No， your tiny work isnt worthy of so much. Well， I think I must ring up your P.E. teacher now.” With these words， mother phoned Mr. Zhang. Mother pressed the hand-free button， so I could hear what they were talking about.

“Yes， were going to have a sports meeting next week，” Mr. Zhang said.

Although I got the money for shoes at last， I said to myself I wouldnt tell lies any longer.

我再也不撒谎了

星期一的早晨，妈妈只给了我二十元钱。她说，这钱够我零花了。我不乐意。“你能多给我些吗？我需要六十块，我想买双新跑鞋。”我告诉妈妈下周我们要举办校运动会。

“校运动会？我不信。上一周，你说要六十元买英语词典，结果你买了巧克力！你牙齿坏光了，不是吗？”妈妈给了我一个白眼。

我知道我喜欢吃甜的，还经常牙疼。但是，这次我真的需要一双新鞋子，用于学校运动会。

“不，我不能再给钱你了，除非你的体育老师给我打电话。”妈妈说。我坐在旁边的椅子上，气得不吭声。突然，妈妈喊道：“噢，天啦！我的一个眼镜腿坏啦！”我一听，赶紧站了起来，瞧了瞧她的眼镜。

“老妈，我能修好它。”我对妈妈说。

“真的吗？你怎么修好它？”她不相信地问我。

我去寻找螺丝起子，把铰链的接口起牢了。“现在，你该给我六十块了。”我自豪地说道。

“不行，你这点小活值不了那么多钱。这样吧，我想我还是给你体育老师打个电话。”话音刚落，妈妈拨通了张老师。妈妈按的是免提键，这样我就能听得到他们在说什么。

“对呀，我们计划下周开运动会。”张老师说。

虽然最后我拿到了买鞋子的钱，不过我暗自对自己说以后再也不撒谎了。
