Chinese President Xi Jinping meets with UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon at the UN headquarters in New York City on September 26.

Xi said that on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the UN， the international community should reaffirm its commitment to multilateralism， defend the principles and purposes of the UN Charter， safeguard the authority and role of the UN， and make joint efforts to promote world peace and common development.

Speaking highly of Chinas role in addressing regional and international issues， Ban said that China is an indispensable partner with respect to UN agenda.

Before the meeting， Xi attended the UN Sustainable Development Summit and delivered a speech. He announced that China will set up a fund， with an initial contribution of $2 billion， to support South-South cooperation and assist other developing countries in implementing their post-2015 development agenda.
