The first reflector panel of mega radio telescope FAST is installed in Pingtang， southwest Chinas Guizhou Province， on August 2.
Consisting of 4，450 such panels with a dish the total size of 30 soccer fields， FAST， a 500-meter aperture spherical telescope， is slated to be completed in September 2016. It will be the worlds largest radio telescope， overtaking Puerto Ricos Arecibo Observatory， which is 300 meters in diameter.
