The World Beard[(颏上的)胡须]and Moustache[(唇上的)胡须]Championships
Having spent the last few months and even years perfecting[使完美]their facial hair, these men fnally had the chance to show off their eye-catching efforts.
More than 300 men with nicely-shaped beards and long mustaches attended the 2014 World Beard and Moustache Championships, which took place in Portland[波特], Oregon[(美国)俄勒冈州]on October 25th. Coming from nine countries, the men were judged in 18 beard and mustache groups, ranging from freestyle to best full shaped beard. Easily beating the competition with his long, dark, rough facial hair, Mr. Madison Rowley earned the title of Grand Champion[总冠军].

Why Did the Cat Sit in the Circle?
If you’ve spent hours patiently trying to teach your cat to perform tricks then the latest online pet craze[狂热]could be one for you.
Cat Circles, where cats are attracted to a simple circle, sit down in the middle of it and then refuse[拒绝]to move, are being recreated all over the world by ordinary kitties who seemingly can’t pass by a circle without being irresistibly[无法抵挡地]drawn to it.
Hundreds of web users are posting pictures of their successful feats[丰功伟绩], while vets[兽医]and pet psychologists[心理学家]remain stumped[把……
Saudis[沙特阿拉伯人]Flock[蜂拥]to Visit Paralyzed[瘫痪的]Man in Hospital
After an accident left him paralyzed a year and a half ago, Ibrahim, a 24-year-old Saudi man, ended up bedridden[卧床不起的]in Hospital. Over time, visits from his family became less and less often. He sent a message on twitter, saying that he was sick in hospital alone, no money, no love, no one looking. Then the tweet quickly became popular, even popular enough to attract Saudi Prince Alwaleed’s attention. Billionaire[亿万富翁]Alwaleed published[发表]tweets saying that he would donate[捐赠]$133,000 to Ibrahim treatment. He later visited Ibrahim, and personally handed him the money.
From there, Ibrahim’s popularity[名气]exploded[爆炸], with scores of people visiting the man, often with a variety of gifts like fowers, pizza, and traditional[传统的]Saudi Arabia dishes[菜肴].
