美国节日面面观

美国的节日很多，既有圣诞节、万圣节这种“地球人都知道”的节日，也有许多不为同学们所熟知的节日。那么我们就一起搜罗一下美国下半年里有哪些这样的节日吧。

Independence Day独立日

Independence Day is one of the m ajor1U.S.legal2holidays,July 4, America’s most important non-religious holiday,the equivalen t3of other countries,“National Day”.On this day,there are often large-scale fireworks,concerts and parades4and the contests of eating watermelons and eating hot dogs.These lively activities often attract men and women,old and young.

独立日是美国主要法定节日之一。独立日定在7月4日，为美国最重大的非宗教节日，相当于其他国家的“国庆日”。在这一天一般会举行大规模的烟火表演、音乐会和游行活动，还有吃西瓜、吃热狗大赛。男女老少常常会被这些热闹的活动所吸引。

Labor Day劳动节

It honors1all working peop le in the U.S.and Canada.It began with a New York City parade in 1882 and is now celebrated on the first Monday in September.It doesn’t have the same time as our country.Now Labor Day is considered more as the last summer.A lot of peop le with their family travel and enjoy a wonderful holiday in the countryside.All organs2, schools close.In some areas people will hold fireworks party or free barbecue3dinner.The bosses of company often ask their emp loyees4to have a picnic.

该节日的设立是为了表示对美国和加拿大所有劳动人民的尊敬。它始于1882年纽约市游行，现在定为每年9月的第一个星期一，这与我们中国的劳动节时间不同。现在，劳动节更多被认为是夏日的尾声，很多人举家出行，在郊外享受美好的假期。所有机构、学校都不开门，一些地区会举办焰火晚会或者免费的烧烤聚餐,公司老板也往往邀请他们的员工去野餐。

Colum bus Day哥伦布日

The 2nd Monday of October is Columbus Day,celebrating the historic1trip of Christopher Columbus to the Americas in 1492.Columbus Day is a holiday celebrated in many countries in the Americas,commem orating2the date of Christopher Columbus’s arrival in the New W orld on October 12,1492.Because Columbus was Italian,this holiday is especially important to Italian-Americans,but may not be celebrated in all states.

10月的第二个星期一是哥伦布日，庆祝1492年克里斯托弗·哥伦布登上美洲大陆这一历史时刻。在美洲许多国家都会庆祝该节日，纪念克里斯托弗·哥伦布在1492年10月12日到达新大陆。因为哥伦布是意大利人，这个节日对意裔美国人来说尤其重要，不过可能并非所有州都庆祝该节日。

Veterans’Day老兵节

November 11th is Veteran’s Day.This holiday honors the soldiers who fought in World War I and those who fought for the U.S.in all wars.Peop le celebrate by disp laying the American flag from our homes, having parades and decorating graves1w ith flowers and flags.

11月11日是老兵节。这个节日是为了纪念参加过第一次世界大战和美国各种战争的士兵。人们通过在家摆放美国国旗、举行游行和用花与旗帜装饰坟墓来进行纪念。
