Smoking

于莹   1992年毕业于山东师范大学，中学高级教师、梁山县优秀教师，曾获市级优质课一等奖，一直担任初中英语的教学工作，所带班级连续多年在中考中取得优异成绩。2012年12月在山东省英语竞赛中荣获优秀指导教师称号。先后在《中学生英语》、《山东教育导报》、《现代中学生》、《初中生英语学习》、《英语辅导报》、《英语周报》、《学生导报》、《新课堂》等国家级、省级报刊上发表教学论文三十多篇。

Smoking

It is almost known to all that smoking is bad for peoples health. Smoking can lead to heart disease， cancers and so on. There are 2.5 millions① people dying from smoking every year.

Still， many people find it difficult to stop smoking. One reason is that smoking usually become② a habit， which is not easy to be given up. Another reason is the effect of nicotine， which is contained in tobacco.

Measures has③ been taken to help people reduce the harm of smoking. In many cities， smoking is forbidden in public places. The danger of smoking is warned everywhere. And newspapers are asked dont④ to publish advertisements for cigarettes. World “No Tobacco Day” has been set against smoking.

1. 优点：

文章内容全面，叙述有层次，连贯自如，准确地运用了时态，并尝试着用较为复杂的句式，是篇不错的习作。

2. 需要修改的地方：

① millions去掉s。当hundred， thousand， million等词与具体数字连用时，不用复数形式。

② become加上s。动名词做主语，动词用单数。

③ has改为have，前面是复数名词，故用have。

④ dont改为not。此处为ask sb. not to do sth.的被动形式。
