Wu Wenhui Return to take over Tecent Literature
2014-09-22
“Ten years has passed and everything returned to where it began. With a sigh, I wonder what experiences are waiting in the next ten years.” On the evening of April 9, Wu Wenhui, who has been silent on the Microblog for nearly a year, suddenly posted such a sentimental remark. Outsiders immediately related this to the expiration of his non-competition agreement with Shanda Literature, meaning that the man that established the business pattern for network literature in China will return to the industry.
He was given a new title later – CEO of Tecent Literature.
Wu Wenhui was once the board chairman and CEO of Qidian.com and then the president of Shanda Literature. He set up the business pattern, operating pattern and copyright expansion system of the network literature. However, in March 2013, Wu Wenhui and his team that founded Qidian.com, which was acquired by Shanda Literature, collectively left Shanda.
This used to be a typical problem for Shanda– the clash between the hierarchy inside the company and the independent development of subsidiary organizations. Wu Wenhui, who is known to be a stubborn man, finally chose Tecent to restart its business.
He is to focus his efforts on channels, contents and authors. First of all, the mobile Internet will continue to serve the breakthrough point as more money will be injected to open more channels. For example, the mobile terminals are to be connected to the PC ones, allowing information and contents to be seamlessly shared on all platforms. As for the contents, excellent original articles are to be highlighted and protected. The platform will support those authors with good original ideas and writing skills. They have a complete system to create a series of start authors.
