Central Geological Prospecting Fund Newly Added 16.47 Million Tonnes of Bauxite in 2013

In 2013, the Central Geological Prospecting Fund (CGPF) Project newly discovered 15 ore fields, including 3 large above ore fields, and 5 medium sized ore fields. The reporter learned from the recently published “Annual Report of Central Geological Prospecting Fund Project (2013)” that, from 2006 to 2013 the CGPF project discovered a total of 83 large and medium sized ore fields, the Inner Mongolia Hanggin Banner Daying Uranium Mine General Survey Achievement was awarded Top Ten Geological Prospecting Achievement title for 2013.

According to data from annual reports, in 2013 CGPF had a total of 63 mineral prospecting projects that carried out field work, the ore varieties involved coal, uranium ore, iron ore, manganese ore, copper and multi-metal ore, lead & zinc, tungsten, bauxite, gold mine niobium-tantalum, tin, antimony, mercury, rare earth metal, rock salt and fluorite, and it completed 142859 cubic meters of trench prospecting, and 187111 meters of drilling prospecting. In the whole year 18 projects completed achievement report audit, some major projects continued to expand achievements. The resource volume of 3 general survey projects in Sichuan Panzhihua Iron Ore Uncompartmentalized Prospecting Zone increased significantly. After expert appraisal, it submitted 3.5 billion tones of 333 iron ore volume, making it an ultra large scale mine； associated Titanium dioxide resource volume was 240 million tones, Vanadium pentoxide resource volume was 6.84 million tonnes, all reached large scale size. Wherein, in 2013 the newly added iron ore quantity was 2.7 billion tonnes, Titanium dioxide resource volume was 200 million tones, Vanadium pentoxide resource volume was 5.16 million tones. The two projects of Dongshan and Mazongling in Guizhou Wuzhengdao Bauxite Uncompartmentalized Prospecting Zone had an estimated bauxite ore quantity of 66.47 million tonnes, both exceeded large scale. wherein, in 2013 the newly added bauxite ore quantity was 16.47 million tonnes. Xinjiang Ruoqiang County Pobei Nickel Mine General Survey work has been finished, after audit the submitted nickel resource volume was above 1.38 million tonnes, making it an ultra large scale mine, in which in 2013 the newly added nickel resource volume was 80000 tonnes.

In the aspect of geological scientific research, CGPF also reaped new achievements. Daying Uranium Mine special topic research subject acquired a series of innovative achievements in metallogenic theory and technological method aspects, which enriched sandstone type uranium mine theory, it reached overall international advanced standard in the continental facies basin sandstone type uranium mine prospecting field. Integrating industry, university and research forces, the project provided solid geological theory foundation and technological support to the successful practice and popularization application of “Joint Exploration of Coal and Uranium” new thinking approach, and also provided foundation for continually expanding Daying Uranium mine prospecting achievements and deploying new uranium prospecting work. Meanwhile, potash salt, chrome iron ore and diamond single mineral variety strategic area selection project also made fresh progress, it deployed concealed mineral deposit prospecting work for Central and East China regions. Daying Uranium Mine General Survey Achievement was awarded Top Ten Geological Prospecting Achievement title for 2013 by the Geological Society of China, CGPF project setup management information system was awarded China Geographical Information Industry Outstanding Project Silver Prize for 2013.

According to annual reports, by the end of 2013, a total of 165 CGPF mineral prospecting projects passed achievement report audit, from 2006 to 2013 CGPF projects discovered a total of 83 large and medium-sized ore fields, and obtained 4 achievement awards.
