The term “heaven” – the place people go after they die –was born of religion. It has also become a beautiful dreamland for their soul while still living. Everyones heart finds a retreat and each person creates their own version of heaven. I used my computer to depict the respective heavens of people Ive talked to, placing them in the realm of reality.
Reality vs. Perfect Place
A young lady tries on shoes on a bed surrounded by piles of luxury brands. It is “heaven” in the eyes of a young advertising editor. Although some elements are removed from the singular, the investigative notes for Heaven by Jiang Yunge recount a picture of Chinese life and spiritual world of heaven– a perfect place within the limits of imagination –a silo of money, beauty, and luxury, as well as the spirits that help satisfy desire.
Temples and books offer vivid pictures and paintings depicting heaven. Jiangs brand-new digital work demonstrates how technology can so smoothly produce life-like 3D, yet it can rarely produce anything heartwarming. The satirical wisdom of Heaven lies in a trip through reality, as opposed to fantasy and emptiness, which is exactly the aim of photography.
