伦纳德·科恩（Leonard Cohen），加拿大著名词曲作家，音乐人，诗人及小说家，1934年出生在富有浓厚欧洲气息的蒙特利尔，大学修的是英国文学，早年以诗歌和小说在文坛闻名，小说《美丽失败者》（Beautiful Losers）被评论家誉为60年代的经典之作，他自身也被誉为“加拿大有史以来最重要的作家之一”。60年代初，科恩尝试把诗改写成歌曲，著名民谣歌手朱迪·柯林斯（Judy Collins）翻唱科恩的Suzanne受到极大欢迎，于是她说服科恩参加她的巡回民谣演唱会。登台演出，签约发唱片，科恩迅速在民谣界站稳了脚跟，三十几年下来，他总共只出了十张录音室专辑，但均非凡品。要死不活的自怜低沉的嗓音，拥有撼人力量的歌词和过耳难忘的旋律足以让听者神魂颠倒。
