Date Cake
German Bakery
Koregaon Park
Its the unfortunate blasts of 2010 that vaulted the German Bakery into the news. But Ive been frequenting the place from long before that and I still do, whenever Im in Pune. This café has always been known for its lovely cakes, pies, salads, sandwiches and desserts. I think the date cake here is the best. a large slice of date cake and coffee at the German Bakery—happiness!
eggs for breakfast
Prems
Koregaon Park
Prems reflects all the laid back qualities that Pune is known for. and the leisurely breakfast at this 25-year-old restaurant fits right into that mood. I used to live in a hostel nearby for three years and this was my favourite breakfast haunt. They serve the most satisfying breakfasts. and the eggs are perfect—whether sunny side up, done just right, or the choice of omelettes, from masala to mushroom and spinach.
grilled shrimps
sTone WaTer GrIll
North Main Road
This place is a must-see, also somewhere to be seen, for its pretty happening on the Pune nightlife scene right now. This good-looking lounge and restaurant is also a place for some excellent grilled and barbecued fare. I vote for the shrimps here—they are among the best Ive ever eaten.
mutton chops
Golconda
Mundhawa
Golconda is a multi-cuisine restaurant but is not to be scoffed at. They know just how to hit the spot. Im a vegetarian now, but I can still remember the mouth-watering flavour of the mutton chops at Golconda. Its marinated and pot-roasted to a delightful tenderness. Their pathar gosht is also fabulous.
Chicken satay
malaka spice
North Main Road
I count the meals at malaka spice among my best eating experiences in Pune. during the time I lived in the city, Ive had many wonderful meals here. This Pan asian restaurant does a great job with its Thai and malay dishes, all served in a setting thats charming and comfortable, with a nice al fresco area. I especially like the chicken satay here, perfectly cooked and served with a luscious peanut dipping sauce.
