Tongling to Build 600,000-ton Reclaimed Copper Processing Base
2012-08-15
Recently, China’s Ministry of Environmental Protection approved Anhui Kaiyuan Metal Recycling Industrial Park to carry out “enclosure management” for imported hardware wastes. It indicates that Tongling’s copper industrial development platform construction has made great breakthroughs, and resources “bottleneck” of development of the copper industry will be mitigated.
Construction of the industrial development platform lags behind, which constitutes one of major factors hindering the copper industry of Tongling. At present, the city needs 500,000 tons of copper concentrates and 400,000 tons of copper scraps annually. In 2011, the city only yielded 69,000 tons of copper and local dismantling and recovery enterprises recovered less than 10,000 tons of copper scraps. It is the top priority to take advantage of the pilot policy of “enclosure management” for imported recycled resources, develop copper scrap dismantling industry, establish specialized copper dismantling park and break the resources “bottleneck” of the copper industry. With a total investment of RMB 0.954 billion, upon completion, Anhui Kaiyuan metal recycling industrial park project will become a processing base that can produce 3,000,000 tons of recycled raw materials and 600,000 tons of reclaimed copper with the annual sales revenue of RMB 50 billion and the pre-tax profit of RMB 3 billion.
