A young president (总裁) was driving his new car along the street of residential (住宅的) area in a little fast speed. He was very careful, because he was afraid that kids would run into the driveway (汽车道) suddenly. As his car passed the street, a child picked up a brick and smashed it into his car’s side door.
He jumped out of the car, grabbed (抓住) the kid and shouted, “Why did you do that?” “Please, mister, please. I’m sorry. I didn’t know what else to do!” the kid pleaded (恳求). “It’s my brother,” he said. “He fell off his wheelchair (轮椅) and I can’t lift him up.” Crying, the boy asked the president, “Would you please help me get him back into his wheelchair? He’s hurt and he’s too heavy for me.”
This young president was moved by these words. He lifted the kid’s brother back into the wheelchair, wiped his wound and made sure that everything was going to be okay. “Thank you, sir. And God bless you,” the grateful child said to him. Then the man watched the little boy push his brother to the sidewalk toward their home.
And he never did repair the side door. He kept the dent (凹痕) to remind himself not to go through life so fast. When life whispers in your soul and speaks to your heart, if you don’t have the time to listen, you have two choices: listen to the whispers of your soul or wait for the brick!
