Galaxy International Mall Unveiled

An agreement between Galaxy International Mall (hereinafter referred to as Galaxy) and its three main partners was signed on January 12, 2011, in the city of Tianjin. The partners are Lotte Department Store, Golden Harvest Cinemas and the All Stars Ice Stadium. Present at the ceremony were officials from the Tianjin Municipal Commission of Commerce, Tianjin CAC,Taiwan Affairs Office of Tianjin, Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of Tianjin, Foreign Investment Office of the Tianjin Municipal Government, Hexi District Government,leaders of the Tianjin Infrastructure Construction and Investment Group (TIIG),head of Tianjin Lecheng Real Estate Co.Ltd., and representatives of all parties who were signatories to the agreement.

Galaxy is a key project of TIIG, also the main investor. It is estimated it will open to the public in the middle of 2012. Land area is 74,600 square meters and the building’s area is 360,000 square meters. There are five floors above ground and two floors underground.

Galaxy is located at the intersection of Leyuan Dao and Yuexiu Road of Hexi District, north to the Cultural Center and near the Administration Center. Traf fic in the area is convenient with 30 bus stops and four rail transit stations around it.

The Lotte Department Store is part of the Lotte Group, South Korea’s largest retailer and one of the world’s top 500 companies. Since 2006, the Lotte Group has opened chain stores in Beijing, Shenyang, Nanjing and Tianjin. This time, Lotte signed up to rent more than 70,000 square meters of Galaxy to build its first flagship store in China with its well-developed operation mode and advanced service concept. The Lotte Department Store in Galaxy will set up various sections introducing world famous brands,fashion apparel, imported food and household items.

Golden Harvest Cinemas and the AllStars Ice Stadium were also signatories to the agreement. Golden Harvest Cinemas are affiliated with the Orange Sky and Golden Harvest Group. The cinema group wants its Galaxy complex to be the largest in north China with 12 screens of different types: IMAX, 4D and 3D. Moreover, the cinema will provide special food service at VIP screening to attract high-end customers. Invested by Li Ning, the gymnast-turned-entrepreneur; world champion Li Chunyang; and Wang Rui, the Asian icedancing champion, the All Stars Ice Stadium is the first world-level indoor real ice facility in Tianjin and equips Tianjin with the ability to host world-level on-ice sports events. It is also the only professional training center for on-ice sports in Tianjin.

Galaxy will be the top plaza for overall enjoyment in Tianjin in the near future.Customers will be able to appreciate luxury shopping, food delicacies and leisure time.Cultural facilities are another unique feature of Galaxy.
