ObjectiveTo explore the causes and management of prosthesis disocation after artificaial hip replacement(AHR).MethodsSeventeen patients with prosthesis dislocation after AHR during January 2000 to July 2010 were studied retrospectively through analysis of preoperative causes of and reasons of prosthesis dislocation, and were treated by manipulative reduction and the operation.ResultsAfter 4 months to 10 years follow up,16 patients achieved satisfactory results without relapse,1 patient whose hip joint prosthesis dislocated many times in 3 months walked well without relapse after the second operation.ConclusionIncorrect prosthesis position, unbalanced soft tissue around hip joint,AHR performed by inexperience surgeon and some patient factors are the major causes of prosthesis dislocation after AHR.Important measures to prevent prosthesis dislocation include improving surgical quality, using standard techniques, and adopting functional rehabilitation and health education in practice.23 refs,1 fig.
