ObjectiveTo explore the efficacy of minimally invasive percutaneous plate osteosynthesis(MIPPO)technique and locking compression plate(LCP)for open tibial shaft fractures.MethodsFrom March 2005 to May 2009,16 cases with open tibial shaft fractures were treated by MIPPO technique combined with LCP.According to Gustilo typing, there was 4 cases of typeⅠ and 12 cases of typeⅡ.ResultsAll cases were followed up from 12 to 35 months(average 23 months).According to Johner-Wruhs’functional grading system, the result was excellent in l0 cases, good in 4 cases and fair in 2 cases, with the excellent and good rate of 87.5%.ConclusionMIPPO technique combined with LCP for open tibial shaft fracture is an effective method for the treatment of open tibial shaft fractures with advantages of minimal invasive, stable internal fixation, less complication and satisfactory clinical effects.14 refs,1 fig.
