H one, G Bar and The Box

The three exclusive restaurants and bars—H one, G Bar and The Box--atop Central’s glamorous IFC mall in Hong Kong have whipped up creative ideas for Valentine’s Day, aiming to give all couples a passionate, romantic evening they will never forget.

● H one

The pastry chef will invite guests to make their own Valentine’s Day desserts one day in advance. He will teach the guests a spectacular dessert “chocolate pistachio mousse with mixed berries sorbet”on February 13. The love-flled message can be delivered by writing her name on the plate and presenting it to her the next evening. This will certainly be an evening that will sweep her off her feet!

Couples will then indulge in the ultimate Valentine’s dinner with a sensational six-course menu priced at HK$980 per person.

The gourmet Valentine’s menu is introduced with an appetizer of slow-cooked Scottish wild salmon, chopped organic egg and herring caviar followed by Cannellini bean soup, langoustine and julienne prosciutto. The second course is a home made pigeon ravioli, celeriac and black truffe, followed by a Sicilian lemon and vodka sorbet.

The main course is wood stone roasted half Maine lobster, baby squid “Tagliatelle,”potato conft, chorizo and black ink sauce or trumpet mushroom crusted Wagyu beef fllet, baby broccoli and port wine foie gras sauce. As a fnale, dessert is the guestmade chocolate and pistachio mousse with mixed berries sorbet accompanied by Graffeo coffee or tea.

● G Bar

A wide selection of tempting desserts will be served on a complimentary basis for couples ordering bottled champagne or wine priced from HK$450 between 8 p.m. and 12 a.m.

The signature desserts include mini cooked-to-order souffe, tiramisu, crunch cake, strawberry macaroon, pistachio and vanilla layer cake, rum raisin cheese cake, champagne jelly, mango Napoleon, chocolate dipped strawberry, Crème Brulee, caramel banana chocolate truffe cake, assorted Panna Cotta, raspberry yogurt mousse cake and mini chestnut Mont Blanc.

● The Box

The Box is offering a four-course exquisite dinner and presenting stunning views through the foor-to-ceiling glass windows over Victoria Harbor. It is a perfect place for a romantic dinner and is assured to be a memorable one.

The Valentine’s menu at The Box is priced at HK$680 per person beginning with slow-cooked Scottish wild salmon, chopped organic egg and herring caviar.

A Cannellini bean soup will be served before the main course braised Tasmanian lamb neck, celeriac puree, spinach or trumpet mushroom crusted prime beef fllet, baby broccoli and port wine foie gras sauce. The unforgettable evening will be fnished with a Valentine’s dessert surprise and a cup of Graffeo coffee or tea.

All the prices are subject to a 10-percent service charge.

San Want Hotel Shanghai

Celebrate the coming Chinese New Year with family and friends at San Want Hotel Shanghai and share the handmade Good Fortune of glutinous rice cakes made by executive chef Wu.

From January 1 to February 28, 2010, there will be a series of New Year promotions presented by San Want Hotel Shanghai. The handmade Good Fortune glutinous rice cakes are available at the Chinese restaurant Chao Pin Ji on the frst foor of the hotel. There are also various food promotions at the Chinese restaurant Chao Pin Ji and Ginza Bar.

The Lunar New Year handmade Good Fortune glutinous rice cake symbolizes good luck, at a price of 168 yuan per box (two pieces). From 11∶30 a.m. - 10∶30 p.m. from January 1-February 28, the Good Fortune glutinous rice cakes are available at the Chinese restaurant Chao Pin Ji.

The San Want New Year Gathering Dinner is available from January 1 to February 13, 2010 with four different set menus including nourishing chicken and shark’s fn, Taiwan style “Buddha Jumps Over the Wall,” sauna braised shrimps over stone, stewed Kongfu Matsutake with four treasures and other excellent sea food dishes with prices up to 1,608 yuan. A free Taiwan style glutinous rice cake is free for reservation makers who pay a 30-percent deposit. The executive chef Wu Minghua will bring the best elegant and delicious food for guests from all over the world.

The annual dinner is available from January 1 to February 8 at the Banquet Room with various set menus for your choice. Prices start from 1,588 yuan.
