May 11 was the debut of the frst awards ceremony of the China Hotel Gold Star at the Mansion of Shandong in Jinan, capital of Shandong Province. This award is the highest honor in the hotel industry set by the China Tourist Hotels Association for further promoting standardized service quality of China’s hotel industry. Beijing Longxi Hotspring Resort attended the ceremony as the only hot spring resort winning this special honor.

The sixth council meeting of the China Tourist Hotels Association and the frst awards ceremony of the China Hotel Golden Star was held at Shandong Hotel in Jinan on May 11, 2010. Music Festival in Flower Field

On May 15, the frst Music Festival in Flower Field lifted its curtain in Changgou Town in Beijing’s southern suburbs. The town is blessed with many gurgling springs, which nourish exuberant fowers and other plants in the felds. At the music festival, participants could indulge in vibrant melodies and enjoy the picturesque view of the countryside.

Performers, meticulously selected by organizers, added extra color and excitement to the festival. A rock and roll band instilled youthful passion, and another band lifted up people’s spirits with soft and pleasant SKA music. A Fun Ti Band brought popular old songs from China’s west, which touched the heart of listeners. MITABE, a sensational band from Africa, captured the audiences with strong, rhythmic music accompanied with fast-moving dancers. As evening approached, the festival reached a climax with powerful music and beautiful songs. Chen Jin, a rock and roll guru in China, also came to the festival. He amazed the audiences with a few wonderful songs, which refreshed them of the rock and roll history in China.
