【自我展示】“我”一般用作不及物动词,与某动作发生“迟”、“早”或“耽误”有关,意为“等;等候”。我主要有以下几种用法:

一、我可单独使用。eg:

Wait (for) a minute. 请等一下。

Dont wait dinner for me. Ill be late.

别等我吃饭,我要晚点儿来。

Wait till the bus stops before getting off.

等公共汽车停下来再下车。

I can wait if you cant get there on time.

如果你不能按时到这里,我可以等。

二、当后面接表示所等的人、物的名词或代词时,应与介词for连用。eg:

Who are you waiting for? 你在等谁?

They are waiting for the bus.

他们正在等公共汽车。

三、当后面是表示等待的目的,常接to do。eg:

They are waiting to have dinner.

他们正等着吃饭。

We are waiting to go there.

我们等着去那里。

四、如果表示“等某人(物)进行某动作”,用wait for sb.(sth.) to do 结构。eg:

Are you waiting for me to give back the book? 你在等我还书吗?

The students are sitting quietly in the classroom and waiting for their new teacher to come in. 学生们静静地坐在教室里,等候新老师的到来。

五、wait习惯上后面接“and+另一动词”,而不直接跟动词不定式。例如:

Lets wait and see. 让我们等着瞧。

【自我展示】“我”既可用作形容词,又可用作副词。我主要有以下几种用法:

一、我用作形容词时,意为“肯定的;当然的;有把握的”。常用于以下短语或句型:

1. be sure意为“肯定的”。eg:

Are you sure? 你能肯定吗?

How can you be sure? 你怎么能肯定呢?

2. be sure to do sth. 表示要求,意为“务必做某事;请一定做某事”,多用于祈使句。eg:

Be sure to telephone me.

请一定要给我打电话。

be sure to do sth. 还可表示一种推断,意为“一定做某事;肯定做某事”。eg:

He is sure to be back soon.

他一定会很快回来。

Be sure not to forget it. 千万别忘了。

3. be sure of/about (doing) sth. 表示人对某事(物)的看法,意为“对……有把握”。其后常接名词、代词或动词-ing形式。eg:

You must be sure of yourself.

你要对自己充满信心。

Are you sure of passing the exam?

你有把握通过考试吗?

Im not sure about English grammar.

我对英语语法没有把握。

4. be sure+从句,意为“确信”。eg:

Im not sure that he will come.

我不确信他会来。

二、“我”用作副词,意为“当然;的确;一定”。

1. 常用来回答一般疑问句,意为“当然;的确”,相当于yes;certainly或of course。例如:

“Can you help me?” “Sure.” “你能帮助我吗?” “当然可以。”

“Are you going with us?” “Sure.” “你和我们一起去吗?” “当然啦。”

2. make sure意为“查明;弄清楚”。其后可接of, about或that从句。例如:

Make sure you get there on time.

你务必按时到达那里。

You should make sure of the time.

你应该把时间弄清楚。
