欧洲首都——布鲁塞尔

世博会在二战后停办了很长一段时间。比利时首都布鲁塞尔是二战后第一个举办世博会的城市。

Brussels is the capital of Belgium. But why do people also call it the capital of Europe? Because in addition to the headquarters of the EU, there are hundreds in Brussels. Brussels has held two World Expos, one was in 1935, and the other was in 1958.

The Atomium is another landmark of Brussels. It was built for the World Expo 1958. Why are there 9 big balls on the Atomium? Because there were only 9 members in the EU back then.

布鲁塞尔是比利时的首都。可是为什么人们也称它为欧洲的首都呢?因为除了欧盟总部外,还有数百个国际机构设在布鲁塞尔。布鲁塞尔曾经举办过两次世博会,一次在1935年,另一次在1958年。

这里有一座男孩塑像。这个男孩既勇敢又聪明。有一天,有人试图炸掉这座城市。小男孩发现了点着的引线。于是,他在引线上尿尿,熄灭了它。聪明的男孩救了这座城市。

原子塔是布鲁塞尔的另一个地标。原子塔是为1958年的世博会而建的。为什么原子塔上有9个大球呢?因为那时欧盟只有9个成员国。
