Achieving in the New Millennium

In 2000, UN member states agreed to work to achieve eight Millennium DevelopmentGoals (MDGs) by 2015. This September 20-22, a summit is to be heldat UN Headquarters in New York City to discuss progress being made towardthese goals of ending poverty and hunger, universal education, gender equality,reducing child mortality, improving maternal health, combating HIV/AIDS,environmental sustainability and promoting global partnership for development.Much has changed over the last decade in China and across Africa, buttheres also much to be accomplished in the next five years.
