Who would think it possible that a groupof the worlds leaders would participatein an international conference after fastingfor 24 hours? Thats exactly what happened atthe World Summit on Food Security held inRome, Italy on November 16-18, 2009. On theeve of the summit held by the UN Food and AgricultureOrganization (FAO), Director GeneralJacques Diouf initiated the fast, which includedUN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, to remindpeople of the threat of hunger in the world.
