Plot Synopsis

【本期剧情】

大伙同心协力,打算劫持补给船。可船来了之后,大家才发现诺大的一艘船上只有一个水手清醒,其他人都倒下了。那名水手竟然是小强的叔叔。

Episode 13: THE TRAP!

Xiaoqiang: Saka, hold on a second, let's get some more information from Danny before we start making any plans. We've just got away from one bad situation, let's not put ourselves straight back into another!

Danny: Saka, is it? He's right, like I said there are always a couple of dozen guards and they're all armed. It's suicide for you guys to go up against them. They won't kill me, but you…

Saka: Good plans always defeats numbers.

Candy: Well, I'd love to see a good plan. You haven't exactly been pulling anything good out of your ass lately.

Saka: I do not understand. If I'd had a little more time that wire would have been very useful.

Candy: Er… It's an expression, Saka.

Saka: I have noticed your habit of not saying what you mean. You are a very complex person Candy, possible dishonest.

Candy: Hey!...

Xiaoqing: OK…OK… That's enough both of you, we don't have time for this. Danny, how long until the ship arrives?

Danny: About twelve hours, give or take.

Candy: So there is time, great! Saka…

Adrian: OOOKKay.Well, I can see everyone has things well in hand, so I think I'll go for a little wander.

Candy: (looking embarrassed) I'm sorry, Adrian, we, we're just letting off some steam, we weren't being serious. There's no reason to disappear.

Saka: Huh? We…

Xiaoqiang: SAKA, can you give Danny and me a hand over here? Danny has drawn a map of the jetty where the ship docks. Sanjay, you and Snow White go and keep an eye out for the ship.

Sanjay: OK, come on Snow White.

Saka: Very well. Sanjay, please stay in my line of sight. ( Sanjay waves back)

Adrian: It's OK, Candy. To be honest, I saw some wondrously exotic plants and some of the animal sounds I've never even heard before! I swear I even saw the rare Morpho Helena!

(laughing) This place is a botanist's dream come true. I just have to go for a quick explore.

Candy: Oh, Adrian, even in times like this you just don't change. Be careful then and keep your eye on the time.

Adrian: Will do.

(Adrian wanders off into the jungle, stopping occasionally to take samples)

Xiaoqiang: OK, we've decided on a plan. We're going to dig a pit on the path leading from the jetty. Danny says most of the guards will stay on the boat and help get supplies off the ship. So we should only have about six to eight guards to deal with. We threaten them with spears and get their guns and clothes and force the others to surrender. Right! Danny has some makeshift spades, so lets get digging.

(They all start digging)

Xiaoqiang: Danny, my Uncle, why did he come to this place? He was one of the most debauched individuals I know, yet he left behind all his women and alcohol to come to this forsaken hellhole.

Danny: You have to understand something; your uncle wasn't always like that. He met this woman on one of his trips and she changed him. Love can do that to you. ( Pauses and looks over at Candy)

Xiaoqiang: A woman?

Danny: Yes, Emma, She was an anthropologist. She spent her life mounting expeditions to South America studying and writing about the various tribes. She caught malaria on a search for a remote village and died. He never got over it.

Xiaoqiang: So he came here….

Danny: Because he felt guilty that he wasn't there to protect her. Out here he feels closer to her and I guess he's still punishing himself. He wanted to find this tribe of cannibals she was looking for but never found.

Candy: That's so sad. Don't worry Xiaoqiang, we'll find him.

Xiaoqiang: I never knew. Damn it, why didn't he say anything! I need to find him! I need to apologise!

( Xiaoqiang ignores everyone, lost in thought, and he puts more effort into digging)

Candy ( In a quiet voice) Danny, what's Serafima like?

Danny: She's crazy. Cold, ruthless, power-mad and…

Candy: and…?

Danny: Nothing.

Candy: Nothing? So you just happened to meet this alien dictator who wants to marry you and you've been here for five years. What, no attempts to escape?

(Danny looks away)

Candy: Danny do you have feelings for her? (looks slightly hurt and confused)

Danny: Of course not! Come on, we have to finish the pit.

(Meanwhile Adrian…)

Adrian: What's this?

A fierce battle is taking place in front of Adrian's eyes. A giant tarantula and a blue spotted raptor, are exchanging a flurry of blows, dodging and darting between each other's killing strikes. The raptor's claws finally plunge into the spider's head, a moment too late though, as the spider's bite seems to have passed a deadly gift bringing a sudden deathly silence to the glade.

Adrian: (Trembling) My god. Is it over? ( He moves over to inspect the corpses, and kneeling down he carefully makes some notes in his journal. Plucking a feather first, he then pulls out one of his specimen jars and extracts the remaining venom from the spider)

Adrian: This could prove very useful. ( Looking at his watch) Looks like it's time to head back, Adrian old boy.

(Returns to the others who have finished preparing the trap).

Adrian: I'm back and look what I've got.

Saka: A blue feather…

Adrain: Err, well yes, but actually I meant this spider venom. It grants instant death.

Saka: Ah yes, that IS more useful.

Danny: You can't use that! Look these guards, they may work for Serafima but they're not all bad guys. Some of them are my friends.

Saka: Ah yes, I have heard of this before. It is called Stockholm syndrome. Perhaps we should restrain Mr. Danny.

Danny: I'm not suffering from Stockholm, you idiot! You might not understand it being from another planet but they're people with wives and kids, too. They just have a lousy boss; if they disobey her they're killed! Why do you think Wu was helping her?

Xiaoqiang: Enough! No one's being restrained, Saka! I'll take that venom, Adrian. I'll use a little of it on some darts I made for this hollow tube.

Danny: A blowgun! No wait you can't!!

Xiaoqiang: I promise you, Danny, I'll only use this as a last resort. But we have to be prepared.

Danny: Damn it! You'd better not forget that promise.

(Everyone suddenly turns around at the sound of barking and sees Sanjay running towards them.)

Sanjay: The ship is coming! It's going super fast but it doesn't look like it's headed for the jetty!

Xiaoqiang: What? Danny, I thought you said it would take around twelve hours before they arrived?

Saka: Stockholm!

Candy: Saka, shut up. Danny, what's going on?

Danny: I…I don't know. I'm as confused as you.

Candy: Danny's never been a good actor, Xiaoqiang, I believe him.

Xiaoqiang: OK, let's get to some cover near the beach and see what the hell is going on.

( Reaching the beach, they peer out of the foliage.)

Xiaoqiang: OK. Now I'm really confused. Why did the supply ship run up on the beach with its engine still running and where the hell are the crew? We need to know what's happening. Saka, this looks like a job for you and me. There seems to be a ladder at the rear of the ship, come on.

Saka: Seawater. No, thanks. I cannot accept.

Danny: Do not worry, Xiaoqiang. Snow White and I will go with you.

Xiaoqiang: Great, I'm sure a dog is exactly what I need to deal with twenty-four armed men.

Sanjay: Exactly! Snow White is a great warrior.

(Xiaoqiang, Danny and Snow White swims out to the transom and pulls himself and Snow White up the ladder before moving carefully inside to find the crew littered across the floor. They are tied up on deck; Snow White is standing over the crumpled form of a large older man who is lying face down next to the helm.. he is the only guy who isnt tied up. Xiaoqiang rolls him over))

Danny: Wu Zeyou! Xiaoqiang, Your Uncle!

(Xiaoqiang and Danny carry Wu Zeyou ashore, leaving Snow White to stand guard, Adrian mixes up some herbs to wake him.)

Wu: Xiaoqiang, is that you? Argh, I'm hallucinating, damn this cheap moonshine, I knew this would happen one day.

Xiaoqiang: It's really me Uncle Wu, I came looking for you. (crying) I'm so sorry, Uncle Wu, I was wrong about everything, I love you so much. Can you forgive me?

Wu: (also crying).I love you, too, my boy. I love you too. Xiaoqiang, can YOU forgive me?

( They hug each other for a long time neither wanting to let go)

Danny: Wu, you crazy old bastard. What have you gone and done now?

Wu: (laughing) This is a rescue, Danny. It was going perfectly after I slipped some sleeping draft into the crew's breakfast, (looking sheepish) but…well… I may have drunk a little too much of this home brew and passed out myself.

(Everyone bursts out laughing.)

Wu: I suppose it is a little funny. (laughing)

Danny: No offense, but we can reminisce later. Five years here is more than enough time for me, let's get the hell off this island.

Adrian: I suppose this is as good a time as any. I'm staying. I can't leave. This place is a botanist's treasure trove. I've been searching all my life for a place like this to study. I must remain.

Candy: No, Adrian, you can't.

Wu: What if I told you, Adrian, that there are even more amazing creatures and plants at the cannibal's village and you won't have to worry about more armed raiding parties there. It makes this island look like a poor common garden.

Adrian: …C..ommon Garden and no guns?!! Er… maybe I was being too hasty. It seems we shall continue our grand adventure together.

(Everyone to the boat.)

第13集 陷阱

小强:萨卡!等等,在做计划之前我们先从丹尼那儿弄点信息。我们才从困境中逃脱,千万别直接掉到下一个困境中。

丹尼:萨卡,是么?他是对的,正如我之前所说的,这里经常有二三十个守卫,他们都是全副武装的。如果你们跟他们发生正面冲突的话无异于自杀。他们不会杀我,但你们……

萨卡:好的计划会让我们以少胜多!

蜜儿:好吧,我很想看到一个好的计划!你们最近在紧急关头可没想出什么好主意!

萨卡:我不明白。如果我有时间的话,我那团金属丝就会派上用场了。

蜜儿:呃……萨卡,我只是说说而已。

萨卡:我注意到你习惯性地隐藏你的真实想法。蜜儿,你真是令人难以捉摸,可能是个不诚实的人!

蜜儿:喂!……

小强:好啦……好啦……你们俩吵够了没?我们没时间为这个争论不休。丹尼,船还要多久才到啊?

丹尼:大概12个小时左右吧。

蜜儿:我们还有时间,太好了!萨卡……

艾德里安:好吧。我看你们每个人手头上都有事做,我先四处逛逛!

蜜儿:(不好意思地)对不起,艾德里安,我们只是在发泄情绪而已,并不是真的在吵。你不必走开。

萨卡:嘿!我们……

小强:萨卡,你能过来给我和丹尼帮点忙吗?丹尼刚画了一幅码头地图,船会停在那儿。桑杰,你和白雪负责密切注意那只船!

桑杰:好的,来吧,白雪。

萨卡:很好。桑杰,你不要走出我的视线范围。(桑杰向他挥了挥手)

艾德里安:蜜儿,这没关系。说实话,我看到了一些非常奇异的植物,听到了一些我从没听过的动物的声音!我发誓我甚至看到了珍稀的大闪蝶海伦娜!(笑)这是植物学家梦寐以求的地方。我一定要探究一下,很快就回来。

蜜儿:噢,艾德里安,在这种时候你都死性不改。小心点,注意时间。

艾德里安:没问题!

(艾德里安消失在丛林里,他还时不时停下来采集样本)

小强:好的,我们确定了一个计划。我们要在通往码头的路上挖一个坑。丹尼说大部分的守卫会呆在船上,从船上把补给的食物运下来。我们只需要对付6-8个守卫。我们用矛吓唬他们,缴获他们的枪和衣物,迫使另一部分人投降。好,丹尼已经做好了一些简易的铲子,我们开始挖吧!

(他们开始挖了起来)

小强:丹尼,我叔叔为什么来这儿?他是我所知道的最放荡不羁的人之一,但他却放弃了花天酒地的生活来到这个鸟不拉屎的地方。

丹尼:你需要明白一些事情,你叔叔不总是那样子的。他在一次旅行中遇上了一个女人,那个女人改变了他。爱情也可以这样改变你。(他停顿了一下,看着蜜儿)

小强:一个女人?

丹尼:是的,叫艾玛,她是一个人类学家。她一生都在探险,考察南美洲并撰写关于不同部落的文章。在一次寻找一座遥远村庄的途中她染上了疟疾,而后死了。你叔叔从此一蹶不振。

小强:所以他来到这儿……

丹尼:他为自己当时没能在那儿保护她感到很愧疚。在这儿他可以离她更近点儿。我猜他还在折磨自己呢。他想找到她一直在寻找却未找到的食人族部落。

蜜儿:真让人难过。小强,不要担心,我们会找到他的。

小强:我从不知道居然是这样的!该死的,为什么他什么也不说!我要找到他!我要向他道歉!

(小强不理众人,陷入沉思,他更卖力地挖洞)

蜜儿:(小声地)丹尼,色拉费玛是个什么样的人?

丹尼:她是个疯子。冷酷、粗鲁,沉迷权力和……

蜜儿:和……?

丹尼:没什么。

蜜儿:没什么?你只是偶然碰到了那个想要跟你结婚的外星独裁者,你都在这里五年了。难道你没试着逃跑吗?

(丹尼看着远方)

蜜儿:丹尼,你对她有感觉吗?(看上去有点受伤,有点迷惑)

丹尼:当然不会!来吧,我们必须挖好洞!

(同时艾德里安……)

艾德里安:这是什么?

艾德里安面前,一场激战正在展开。一只巨大的狼蛛和一只青色的带斑点的大雕,正在不断地使用自己的必杀技,骤雨般地开展了攻击。双方互有攻防,难分胜负。大雕的爪子最终嵌入了蜘蛛的脑袋中,但已经太迟了,蜘蛛的撕咬给了它致命的一击,林中死一般的寂静。

艾德里安:(颤抖)噢,上帝!结束了吗?(他走过去检查尸体,蹲下来仔细地记着笔记。他首先拔了一根羽毛,又拿出一个盛标本的广口瓶,取出蜘蛛剩余的毒液)

艾德里安:这会很有用的。(看了看表)该回去了,艾德里安,你这个老顽童。

(回到了队伍中,陷阱已经挖好了)

艾德里安:我回来了,瞧瞧我弄到了什么!

萨卡:一根青色的羽毛……

艾德里安:呃,是的,但我想要跟你们说的是这个蜘蛛的毒液。它能导致猝死。

萨卡:啊哈,这个更有用。

丹尼:你不能用这个!这些守卫,可能是替色拉费玛卖命的,但他们并不坏。他们有些还是我的朋友。

萨卡:是的,我以前听说过这个。这个叫斯德哥尔摩综合症。可能的话我们需要囚禁丹尼先生。

丹尼:我才没有患斯德哥尔摩综合症呢,你个笨蛋!你来自另一个星球,可能不明白,但他们也有妻儿。他们只不过是碰上了一个没有人性的头儿,如果他们反抗的话,他们会被杀掉的!你想想吴怎么会为她做事呢?

小强:够了!萨卡,没人会被囚禁的。艾德里安,我来保管毒液。我会在挖好的洞里边的一些尖镖上面涂上一点。

丹尼:用吹箭筒?等等,你不能这么做!

小强:丹尼,我答应你,不到万不得已我是不会用这个的。但我们得准备一下。

丹尼:该死的!你最好别忘了你的承诺。

(听到狗叫声后大家都转身,看到桑杰跑了过来。)

桑杰:船来了!它行驶得很快,但不像是朝着码头前进。

小强:什么?丹尼,你不是说他们需要12个小时才能到?

萨卡:斯德哥尔摩综合症!

蜜儿:萨卡,住嘴。丹尼,发生什么事了?

丹尼:我……我不知道,我跟你一样困惑。

蜜儿:小强,丹尼不擅长演戏,我相信他!

小强:好,我们在海滩附近躲起来,看看发生了什么事。

(到达海滩后,他们透过树叶往外看。)

小强:好吧。我现在真的是迷惑了。为什么船直接冲向海滩,它的发动机还没熄火,这帮该死的船员去哪儿了?我们需要弄清楚发生什么事情了。萨卡,这由我们俩负责。轮船的背部好像有个梯子,走!

萨卡:海水。不,我不去了。我不能去。

丹尼:小强别担心。白雪、我会跟你一起去。

小强:好的,我相信我正需要一只狗来对付24个全副武装的大汉!

桑杰:确实如此!白雪可是个伟大的战士。

(小强和丹尼还有白雪游向船尾的肋板,爬上梯子,小心翼翼地潜入船中,看到船员横七竖八的躺了一地,都被绑起来挤在甲板上,而白雪站在一个衣着皱皱巴巴,稍老一点的彪形大汉面前,他的脸朝地趴在舵旁边,但只有这个人没有被绑住,小强把他翻了过来。)

丹尼:吴则佑,天啦,小强,这是你叔叔!

(小强和丹尼把吴则佑抬到岸边,让白雪留在船上看住其他船员。到了岸边,艾德里安配了些草药把他弄醒了,小强和叔叔相认,喜极而泣。)

吴:小强,是你吗?啊?我是不是产生幻觉了?该死的,这可怜的妄想,我就知道有这么一天。

小强:吴叔叔,真的是我。我来找你了。(哭泣)对不起,叔叔,我误解你了,我爱你,你能原谅我吗?

(他们拥抱良久,谁都不肯放手。)

吴:(哭泣)孩子,我也爱你,我爱你。小强,你能原谅我吗?

丹尼:吴,你个疯狂的老混球!你去哪儿了,都干了些什么?

吴:(大笑)丹尼,这是拯救的计划。一切都进行的很完美,我把一些安眠药偷偷地混进了船员的早餐中,(昏昏欲睡)但是……呃……我可能喝了太多的家酿酒,把自己给灌醉了。

(众人大笑)

吴:这有点搞笑。(大笑)

丹尼:我不是有意扫兴,但待会儿再回忆吧。对我来说在这儿呆了五年够了,我们离开这个破岛吧。

艾德里安:我想这比任何地方都好。我要留在这儿。我不能离开。这地方是植物学家的宝地。我一生都在寻找这样的研究场所。我要待在这儿。

蜜儿:不,艾德里安,你不能待在这儿。

吴:艾德里安,告诉你吧,食人族的村庄里有更多令人惊异的动植物,而且你不必担心那儿有全副武装的突袭者。跟那儿比起来,这儿简直就是小巫见大巫。

艾德里安:小巫见大巫……,没有枪炮?!!呃……也许我的决定过于草率。我们似乎应该一起继续辉煌的冒险之旅。

1. a couple of

“一对……三两个……”。

常用句子:It's just a couple of minutes. 几分钟就到了。

Give the bottle a couple of shakes before pouring the juice. 倒果汁前,先把瓶子摇几下。

在英国,a couple of 几乎都是指两个:A couple of days (= two days) ago it rained heavily. (两天前雨下得好大)。在美国,a couple of 也可以指两个,但通常指不确定的几个:We're going out to a restaurant with a couple of friends (= a few friends). (我们将和几个朋友一起上馆子。)

2. up against

“与……产生正面冲突,面临”。

例句:People rose up against the despotic rule of their potentate.

人们起来反抗君主的专制统治。

He often came up against the problem of money.

他那时常常碰到钱的问题。

3. pull sth. out of the ass

俚语,表示一个人经常拖拖拉拉,直到在最后关头才想出办法或者做准备。

Hey, you'd better pull something out of your ass.

喂!你最好想个办法。

4.It's an expression!

意思是“只是说说而已。”用在不经意讲错话而对方较真的时候表示修正。

例句:I bet you can't beat me. Ok, a thousand dollars a game. Come on, it's just an expression.

我打赌你赢不了我。 好,一千美元一局。 算了吧,我就随便说说而已。

5. say what you mean

“说你的真实想法”。

Stop pussyfooting around and say what you mean.

别那么吞吞吐吐的, 说说你到底是什么意思吧。

Don't be so mealy-mouthed, say what you mean!

别这么绕弯子了, 有话直说吧!

6. give or take

意为“或多或少,左右”,用在这儿表示丹尼对补给船达到时间的猜测。

例句:It will take an hour, give or take a few minutes.

需要一小时左右。

7. give sb. a hand

意思是“为……提供帮助”。

give sb. a hand的同义句是do sb. a favor。

在帮助的发出者和接受者都可以用,不过do sb. a favor 更倾向于帮助的接受者,即常用于问句。

例句:I hope that you can give me a hand when I am in trouble.

我希望你能在我遇到困难时帮助我。

8. keep an eye out for

成语词组:意思是“留心、注意某人或某物”。

例句:Keep an eye out for the bacon.

密切注意那警察。

I want to move. Keep an eye out for an apartment, will you?

我想搬家,请留心有没有公寓出租,好吗?

9. stay in one's line of sight

“line of sight”表示“视线,瞄准线”,整个短语意为“在某人的视线范围之内”。

例句:Better stay in my line of sight, or I can't save you if you are in danger.

最好站在我的视线范围内,不然的话,你碰到危险我就没法救你了。

I'd like you to stay in his line of sight to make sure everything conducts smoothly.

你最好在他的视线范围内,这样就能保证一切有序进行。

10. makeshift

作名词时表示“临时的措施”,形容词表示“临时的”,在文中指“简易的”。

这里指丹尼做了几个临时的铲子来挖洞,用来抵御可能全副武装的守卫的攻击。

例句:We gathered branches and grasses for a makeshift camp; had a fishing camp in Vermont.

我们收集树枝和草做一个临时小棚;在佛蒙特州有一个钓鱼的营房。

A crude or makeshift bed.

11. left behind

“遗留,留下”。

例句:Come on quick or we'll be left behind。

12. spent time doing sth.

“花时间做某事”。

例句:Miss Shelly spends all her life doing the research related to environment.

We should spend more time on practical matters. That means saying less and doing more.

要腾出时间来多办实事,多做少说。

13. have feelings for sb.

“对某人有感觉”。

表白的常用语:I have a feeling for you! 我喜欢你!

14. Stockholm syndrome

斯德哥尔摩综合症。

文章中,萨卡用斯德哥尔摩症来讽刺丹尼,认为他有意帮助那些守卫。

斯德哥尔摩效应,又称斯德哥尔摩症候群或者称为人质情结或人质综合症,是指犯罪的被害者对犯罪者产生情感,甚至反过来帮助犯罪者的一种情结。这个情感造成被害人对加害人产生好感、依赖心、甚至协助加害人。

15. a last resort

“最后一招”。

例句:He discovered that all grassland squirrels made straight for the trees when pursued, and only chose holes in the ground, or hollow logs, as a last resort.

他发现,当草地松鼠被追捕时,首选都是直爬上树,实在没有办法时才选择钻地洞或中空的树干。

He uses this as the last resort to the urgent accident.

他把这个当成应付紧急事件的最后一招。

16. roll over

意为“从(边上)滚下;(使)翻滚,(使)打滚”。

例句:Roll it over and look at the other side.

把它翻滚过来看看另一面。

The big wave rolled me over and over.

17. stand guard

意为“站岗”。

例句:Four soldiers stood guard over the coffin.

四个士兵守卫灵柩。

The company commander assigned me to stand guard.

18. home brew

意为“家酿啤酒,家酿酒”。

例句:Home brew reached its greatest popularity in America during national prohibition.
