The tense situation surrounding denu-clearization on the Korean Peninsulahas reached a turning point. OnOctober 11, U.S. Secretary of StateCondoleezza Rice formally signed a documentremoving North Korea from the list of statesponsors of terrorism. In response, North Koreasaid it would continue to disable its nuclear fa-cilities and permit the international communityto supervise and validate the process.
