For the first time in Hong Kongs history, an entertainer has been written into middle school textbooks. He is considered one of the best actors in Hong Kong. Yes, he is Chow Yun-fat.
The example of his long hard struggle for success has been used in a chapter in a Hong Kong middle school textbook. Using his experiences, students can learn to make the most of their time and to grab every opportunity to succeed.
On hearing about this, Chow said happily,“I really hope that my experiences can make young people understand that one should not be afraid of difficulties and setbacks, for they are the only way to success.”
Indeed, Chow has travelled a long and difficult path to reach his success. In 1955, he was born in a poor family in Hong Kong. When he was 17, he had to leave school. He worked in a number of jobs—as a postman, camera salesman and taxi driver. These experiences paved the way for him to play all kinds of roles later in life.
Chow broke into the film industry in the late 1970s. He was one of the hardest working actors and starred in a number of popular TV dramas and films including Shanghai Bund and A Better Tomorrow. Since 1985, he has won many awards including Taiwans Golden Horse Awards and Hong Kong Film Awards.
In 1995, he went to Hollywood. Although he was already in his 40s, he had to learn English. He even put chopsticks in his mouth to practise pronouncing certain sounds.
His film, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, began to gain him more fame and recognition around the world. In 1998, the mayor of Chicago set aside January 12 as “Chow Yun-fat Day”.

It is difficult for parents of nearly every family to teach their children to be responsible for housework, but with one of the following suggestions, you really can get your children to help at home.
If you give your children the impression that they can never do anything quite right, then they will regard themselves as unfit or unable persons. Unless children believe they can succeed, they will never become totally independent.
My daughter Carlas fifth grade teacher made every child in her class feel special. When students received less than a perfect test score, she would point out what they had mastered and declared firmly they could learn what they had missed.
You can see the same technique when you evaluate (评价) your childs work at home. Dont always scold and give lots of praise instead. Talk about what he has done right, not about what he hasnt done. If your child completes a difficult task, reward him with a Sunday trip or a ball game with Dad.
Learning is a process (过程) of trying and failing and trying and succeeding. If you teach your children not to fear a mistake of failure, they will learn faster and achieve success at last.

The story of Diego Maradona, the Argentine football player, is the story of the rise and fall of a poor man who became a world star, but paid the price of fame. At the age of 33, he is now at the end of a career which saw him in the 1980s, as the bright star of World Cup football. In the 1990s, this career has come into a story of poor performance on the field, drug-taking court action in which he has had to defend charges of shooting at several reporters.
Maradona was born in the poor area of Furito in Buenos Aires. Early in his life, he was able to realize a dream of most poor boys, the dream that the way out of poverty-trap is through success in sport. Sport in the world around is an activity open to all people, no matter what their background is.
Diego Maradona is one of the eight children. His father is an Indian and mother an Italian. The games of football played in the dirty street outside his small white, one-storied home in Furito were to provide him with a passport (护照) out of the small town. Today, poorly-dressed boys still run and kick balls around the street from which their hero traveled to become one of the worlds great football artists.

The important thing is not to let fear rule you, but instead to use fear as your servant and guide. Fear will warn you of danger, then you have to decide what action to take.
In many cases, you can take quick and successful action to avoid the danger. For example, you see a car coming straight towards you, fear warns you, you jump out of the way and all is OK.
In some cases, however, you decide that there is nothing that you can do to avoid danger. For example, you cannot prevent an airplane crashing onto your house. In this case, fear has given you its warning; you have examined it and decided on your course of action, so fear of its particular danger is no longer of any use, and you have to try to overcome it.
