August 14 was registration day at Liupanshan Senior High School (Liupanshan SHS). Ma Li, a l6-year-old student from the Hui ethnic group, was one of the smart newcom-ers to the high-quality school, which is only open to good students from the poverty- stricken central and southern mountainous areas of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region.
