DONATIONS flooded in fromaround China and the worldfollowing the Sichuan earth-quake in May. Data fromthe Ministry of Civil Affairs show thatby noon on July 21--two and a halfmonths after the disaster struck--RMB58.2 billion in cash and goods had beenpledged by domestic and foreign do-nors. Received donations totaled RMB57.9 billion. Of this amount, RMB 22.2billion had been forwarded to quake-hitareas.
